Four Bible Verses for Strength and Comfort in Difficult Times

Over the years, I have created what I refer to as a Tree of Life.  These are scriptures that I recite to myself and meditate on when life throws me a curveball as it very often does.  I would encourage you to write these scriptures down in a journal and memorize them so that when you are facing difficult seasons in your life, you will find the strength that you need to press through.

“For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength” (Phil 4:13, NLT)

–This scripture is one that I find myself quoting almost daily because it helps to remind me that there is nothing in life that I cannot accomplish as long as my life is hidden in Christ.  The same is true for you!  Whatever you desire to obtain in life, it can be done as long as you place your faith and hope in the One who is able to do anything but fail in your life.

“God is not a man, so he does not lie.  He is not human, so he does not change his mind . Has he ever spoken and failed to act?  Has he ever promised and not carried it through? (Numbers 23:19, NLT)

–I find myself quoting this scripture when I am struggling with waiting on the promises of God for my life.  There are times when you will go through seasons that seem to speak contrary to what God has spoken in your life.  It is important to remember that God will always make good on His promises. The enemy will seek to speak to your mind and tell you that God has forgotten about you.  This scripture will help you to defeat the lies of the enemy and hold on to your faith in God’s word.

“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”(Romans 8:28, NLT)

–This is another great scripture to remind you that no matter what happens in your life, God is in full control.  Sometimes it is hard to understand how some situations that you experience in life could ever work out in your favor.  When I’m walking through dark seasons in my life, this scripture reminds me that even the mistakes that I have made in life will work out for my good if I continue to love God and trust His plan for my life.  You have been called according to God’s purpose so everything is going to work out in your favor.

“The Lord directs the steps of the godly.  He delights in every detail of their lives.  Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand.” (Psalms 37:23, NLT)

–It is very comforting to know that God is directing your every step in life.  Even when you get off track, God has already made provision for each step that you would take.  This is very important to remember because we are not perfect, and we will stumble in life.  This scripture assures us that even when we do stumble, our life is in God’s hands so we won’t be destroyed.  Rest in the fact that God cares about every single detail of your life and in His infinite wisdom, He has calculated your every step so that you will still arrive at His planned destination for your life.
