Submission: How to Uncover Your Purpose through Submission

If there is no other word in the English language that has the ability to make people cringe, the word “submission” will do it every time! I believe that the concept of submission has gotten a bad rep over the years because of the number of people who have consciously and unconsciously abused it.

So, what is the big deal about submission and why is it so important to the child of God?  In a nutshell, it becomes impossible for the believer to reap the benefits of the kingdom without understanding and embracing submission.

In the book of Proverbs, a book filled with divine wisdom, knowledge and understanding, we are told that “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” (Proverbs 1:7)  It is important to note that the word “fear” is referring to a reverence and a submission to the will of God.

God is our Creator, and He is the designer of all life.  Without Him, there is no us!  So, from this scripture we understand that everything we desire to know about life, specifically about our life, is revealed through submission. What this essentially means is that you make a conscious decision to acknowledge that you don’t know everything about you or where you should be going and what you should be doing in life.

You submit your understanding to God’s counsel and instruction so that He can lead and guide you from His position of omniscience. God knows all, and He is all in all!  Who wouldn’t want to trade in their limited understanding for a divine understanding that allows them to see life so much more clearly?

I would choose God’s wisdom any day of the week over my own! I want to encourage you on today that if you are seeking God for your purpose in life, begin by submitting to Him.  Acknowledge that you cannot lead yourself on this journey.  Ask Him for His guidance, wisdom and direction.

As He says in the book of James 1:5, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” God is waiting to pour out wisdom, revelation and understanding into your life, but you must first submit to His will for your life.

Trade in your way of thinking and understanding for His and watch Him begin to unfold your purpose right before your very eyes. I am praying for you, and I believe that God is going to do miraculous things in your life as you begin to submit to Him.

Please feel free to leave your comments and thoughts about what I have shared in this article.  Do you agree/disagree?  Why do you believe you struggle to submit to God’s will for your life?  After reading this article, what will you do differently?

Blessings,

Erica
